Doc Savage Website Updates
DOC SAVAGE #17Aug 15, 11 Or, Dirty Doc Deeds Done Dirt Cheap. The big news, if you haven't heard by now is that DC Comics is relaunching their entiure line--52 titles--in September. The bad news: DOC SAVAGE is among the missing. No surprise; do you know anyone else (in the real world; this site doesn't count) who read it? The big problem was, we all assumed the "Raise the Khan" storyline would be wrapped up in this, the final issue. It isn't. The comic ends, "To be concluded..." So when is the actual final issue coming out? DC apparently hasn't decided yet. It isn't scheduled for September or October, and there is no info about it on their site. But they are going to finish this story, aren't they...? And to add insult to injury, issue #17 is mostly padding; nothing of real consequence takes place in the tale until the final panel. They had enough notice, couldn't they have redone the final two issues into one? Feh. Double feh. Oh, and the details are here.
DOC SAVAGE #16Jul 22, 11 DOC SAVAGE issue #16--the penultimate issue--has been released. The Man of Bronze finally gets to the bottom of things and decides to take action, probably realizing he has only one more issue in which to wrap up the story. The Apis Bull, Mongols, Neanderthals, talk of Commie spies and dinosaurs, and more coy hints about Genghis Khan as though we can't figure out what a scientist who is experimenting with restoring the dead is planning to do in a story called "Raise the Khan." Check it out here. Now pardon me, I've got to go to the movies to see CAPTAIN AMERICA (subject of my other Superhero e-Library).
DOC SAVAGE #15Jun 14, 11 A major change comes to the series with this issue! Joining J.G. Jones A/K/A The Writer who Finally Gets It Right, is a new artist. Dan Panosian--who has also drawn Captain America, subject of my other website--takes over the art chores with this issue, and he's a success. Dan provides with with a conventional Doc Savage, which is much better than the odd stuff we had been getting with this series. Finally it comes together in a comic in which there is more to like than dislike. Who would have thought it would be so hard? Check out part 3 of "Raise the Khan" here.
DOC SAVAGE #14May 17, 11 The latest issue of DOC SAVAGE features the second installment of "Raise the Khan!" wherein the Man of Bronze battles a band of baddies seeking a mysterious amulet that would give them the ability to, well, raise the Khan, I assume. And with the mention of Temujin by the Mongol warriors, it looks like it's Genghis Khan who will be trying for a late career comeback. Writer J.G. Jones and artist Qing Pin Mui deliver a more traditional take on Doc Savage in this story arc. The details can be found here.
DOC SAVAGE #13Apr 22, 11 A new creative team takes over with this issue: cover artist J.G. Jones picks up the writing duties with the first installment of "Raise the Khan" wherein the Man of Bronze confronts a living mummy and heads to Egypt, while newcomer Qing Pin Mui handles the art chores. See the details here.
DOC SAVAGE #12Mar 18, 11
The latest issue of Doc's comic has appeared and it wraps up the seven-part epic wherein the Man of Bronze enters the war-ravaged Zone in the Middle East to stop a nuclear threat and encounters an old Army buddy long thought dead. In hindsight, it's clear what this infuriating story arc was trying for but never quite achieved. See the details here. A new creative team takes over in the next issue, headed by cover artist J.G. Jones as the writer; I'm looking forward ot it.
FIRST WAVE Concludes!Mar 9, 11
After many delays, the final issue of FIRST WAVE has appeared. This completes the story introducing DC's new universe wherein pulp adventurers and not superheroes save the world. Notable for its epic teaming of Doc Savage, The Spirit, the Avenger, Blackhawk, and an alternate version of Batman, the effort ended up better than I had expected. A story synopsis and reviews of both the issue and the series as a whole can be found here.
DOC SAVAGE #11Feb 18, 11
The latest issue of DOC SAVAGE is out and the Middle East War story arc is winding down and it looks like the plot may make sense sooner or later. Next month will see the wrap up of the disappointing tale and after that, cover artist J.G. Jones takes over as both writer and artist. Say...whatever happened to that Crime College story we were promised in issue #5? Or that unpromising "Doc battles a worldwide conspiracy" running theme set up in issues #1-4? Here's hoping that Jones can finally make this title a success. PS I hope you are all taking advantage of the new open site!
Breaking News: The Site is Wide Open!Feb 14, 11 Good news, Fans of Bronze! Now you no longer need a password or login to access all the features of the Doc Savage Library. You can now read all the comic book synopses and reviews, the character profiles, see all the pictures, add comments, and more! And we hope to have some more new features soon! Keep checking back! And let me know how you like the changes!
DOC SAVAGE #10Jan 20, 11
The latest issue of DC's DOC SAVAGE is an interlude, taking us back to the so-far undefined War to give us some insight into the unstable relationship between the Man of Bronze and the Marine Ronan McKenna who has been a mysterious player in the current storyline. We finally begin to comprehend the issues involved, preparing for what may be an epic clash between the two former allies. But then, I'm only guessing. The story is better than most issues of this series, with the story filling the book (and displacing The Avenger). I hope this signals an improvement in the project. BTW, it's here.
Next-to-Last WaveDec 18, 10
FIRST WAVE issue 5 has been released and it's hard to see how the creative team can wrap up the story in one more issue. Well, at least all the heroes are in the same place at the same time. Look here for more details.
DOC SAVAGE issue #9Dec 11, 10
The new issue of DOC SAVAGE was released this week: the story hasn't improved. Details here. Sigh. Next up: FIRST WAVE #5.
And now, Number #8Nov 14, 10
The eighth issue of DC's new DOC SAVAGE comic has been released. To be honest, I'm a bit disappointed with the series. First was the conventional but poorly paced and badly drawn Lord of Lightning saga, and now we have this dark and dismal war drama that bears no resemblance to anything one associates with Doc Savage. Wasn't the reinvention of the Avenger as a grim-and-gritty noir piece enough of a shock? Is this the same guy who is appearing in FIRST WAVE? That isn't perfect but at least it keeps at least one foot in the pulp adventures we know and love. Well, as the current comics climate goes, if you don't like what's happening, wait six issues and a new creative team will change everything.... Now that I've talked you out of it, see the details of the issue here.
Lucky Number SevenOct 18, 10 DOC SAVAGE #7 hit the stands this week: Doc is in Iraq trying to head off an international incident, while in Justice, Inc., Smitty is plotting a murderous vengeance in defiance of the Avenger's orders. More cool stuff to come!
FIRST WAVE #4 Crashes AshoreOct 8, 10 The efforts of Doc Savage, The Spirit and The Bat-Man to unravel the mystery of the sinister Golden Tree and their world-shattering scheme continue, as the miniseries is now two-thirds of its way to the conclusion. A rocky publishing schedule hurts what would be a compelling story if the chapter came closer together. Details of the issue are here.
And now...Doc Savage #6Sep 18, 10 After a bit of a delay, I am able to present the details and review of DOC SAVAGE #6, wherein a new writing/art team begins a new story arc. Here Doc is in the war-ravaged Middle East, confronting a nuclear blackmail threat from The Two Who Are One! Plus a new story from Justice Inc. focusing on Smitty as he is drawn back into his violent past by a new case! Here you go!
At Long Last...Aug 28, 10 This week the Doc Savage Library presents...something I never thought I would see. In 1979, Skylark Press (an imprint of Bantam Books) published a series of illustrated editions of famous works. One of these was the first Doc Savage novel, THE MAN OF BRONZE. This item was incredibly difficult to locate--unless one was willing to pay a hundred dollars or more. I wasn't. Well, a bookseller in Canada contacted me through this site and offered me a copy at a much more reasonable price--and I snapped it up. So here are the details of this rare and hard-to-find trasure. And now I can say the site now features every Doc Savage comic book published since the 1950s. Eventually we'll get the section for the original pulp novels up on the site. Here's hoping it's by the end of the year.
Doc 5 is Here!Aug 13, 10 DOC SAVAGE issue #5 came out this week and it takes off in a different direction! Unfortunately the different direction is away from the promised Crime College story to pit Doc against a gang of crooked gamblers! It's not the typical Doc adventure! And the JUSTICE, INC. "Worst Nightmare" storyline wraps up with a lot of gunfire. Don't miss it! Spoiler-laden details are here.
FIRST WAVE numbah 3Aug 2, 10 Doc Savage! The Spirit! The Avenger! The Blackhawks! The third issue of the DC miniseries bringing together a host of pulp heroes (and Batman) to fight a massive criminal organization has finally been released. Details are here.
The Lord of Lightning FallsJul 24, 10 A little late but we've just added DOC SAVAGE #4 which wraps up the "Lord of Lightning" saga (but not the Justice, Inc. "Worst Nightmare" tale). Don't know about you but I'm a little disappointed in the series, though it's not exactly a crime against humanity (as some critics seem to take it--no names). Hey, it's not even a crime against Lester Dent. But it's no worse than any other Doc comic book and I'm happy to have the Man of Bronze back in any form. Check it all out here.
Supercool Doc Savage Fantasy Covers!Jul 8, 10 Just discovered a fascinating new site: Keith "Kez" Wilson has created fantasy Doc Savage covers! What is a fantasy cover you ask? Well, suppose Doc Savage had an adventure where he met Dracula, or King Kong, or The Blob? And Lester Dent wrote it up as a grand pulp extravaganza? Well, Kez has employed his artistic skills to create a Bantam paperback cover to illustrate those novels! There are nearly 40 of them on his site, and each comes with an appropriate back of the cover blurb! And not to be outdone, he has also reworked the Bantam double volumes to show what they would have looked like as singletons, so that Bob Larkin's amazing covers can be seen in all their glory! It's here at http://www.miscmayhemprods.com/doc/
Another site I ran across is Clayguy.com, the homepage of sculptor Barry Crawford who designs and creates freestanding figures of favorite science fiction, horror and adventure characters. He has a nice gallery of Doc Savage characters available for retail sale, with the promise of more to come! He's at http://clayguy.com/id9.html
Another Doc Achievement!Jun 16, 10 Trust Doc Savage to present something that has rarely taken place in comics history: a dirigible chase! As Doc pursues the minions of the Lord of Lightning through the skies to rescue his captured aide Monk, things look like they will be coming to an epic climax in the next issue! But for now, what we have is DOC SAVAGE #3! Plus, the Avenger is hot on the trail of the kidnappers of his associate Josh (what is it with kidnapped aides this issue?) and we know he will show no mercy! Check it all out here.
Double Doc DynamiteMay 22, 10 An overdose of Bronze struck us on May 12: the simultaneous release of DOC SAVAGE #2 and FIRST WAVE #2! It took me a bit of time to recover but I've just posted a synopsis and review of DOC #2. Have a look here.
And for completeness' sake (because that's the kind of hairpin I am) the write-up on FW #2 is here.
Hope you like them; see you next month!
Have No Fear, Doc Savage is Here!!!Apr 16, 10 Good news! DC's new Doc Savage was released this week and I'm so happy I can't think of a thing to say! So I said it all here.
The bad news is that FIRST WAVE #2 has been delayed yet again. Here's hoping for next week. At least it kept me from OBing (overbronzing) on Doc this week!
Say It Ain't So!Apr 7, 10 The release of FIRST WAVE #2 has been delayed a week until April 14, which is when the first issue of the new DOC SAVAGE is scheduled as well. Double Doc delights? We'll see. Next week.
First Wave is Here!!!Mar 4, 10
The long-awaited miniseries FIRST WAVE is here!!! Introducing the DC alternate universe in which pulp adventurers, not superheroes, protect the world, this serves as the foundation for new titles featuring Doc Savage, The Spirit, Justice Inc. and more! Read a synopsis of FIRST WAVE #1 here. And a full review is now available!
Doc Savage! Now With Fan Art!Feb 24, 10
We've finally added some fan art to the Doc Savage Library. Be sure to check out the contributions of Jerod Blayney and Karyn Anderson in the Image Gallery (under Multimedia on the menu bar) and prepare yourself for some astounding images! Jerod uses his distinctive photo-collage technique (seen at the Captain America Library) to team Doc with Indiana Jones, while Karyn provides a fine portrait of Doc and the aides. Amazing!
And remember, only one week until FIRST WAVE!
Upcoming Doc Savage Comics!Feb 22, 10 As promised, there is now a section for Upcoming Comics on the Doc Savage site! Now you can check out the first new Doc stuff since 1995. Just go to Comics on the menu above, pull it down and click to see details on forthcoming issues of FIRST WAVE and Doc's solo title!
And FW makes its debut next week! I'm sure we'll all be superamalgamated!
And More to Come!Feb 13, 10 DC continues to cater to Doc Savage fans: first there was BATMAN/DOC SAVAGE returning our hero to the land of comics once more. Then the announcement of the new miniseries FIRST WAVE (starting March 3) and now it is revealed that there will be a new DOC SAVAGE solo series for the first time since 1995! The writer will be Paul Malmont, author of that Doc Savage/Shadow/pulp homage The Chinatown Death-Cloud Peril, and art wil be by Howard Porter (JLA) and Art Thibert (X-MEN, ULTIMATE SPIDER-MAN). First issue goes on sale April 14! And I hope to have a real "Upcoming Comics" section on this site soon. Who knew Doc would be back?
Doc Savage Meets BatmanJan 4, 10
Doc Savage is back in the world of DC comics, making his long-awaited reurn in BATMAN/DOC SAVAGE SPECIAL #1 a one-shot designed to lead into the miniseries FIRST WAVE! A synopsis and review of this landmark issue appears here.
And issue one of FIRST WAVE goes on sale March 3!
Happy New Year! Happy New...Doc?Jan 1, 10 A big surprise for the new year: DC is again publishing Doc Savage comics! Took me completely by surprise: BATMAN/DOC SAVAGE SPECIAL #1 was released in November (with a January cover date) but I only heard about it last week. Fortunately my local comics shop has a copy on the shelf and I snapped it up and read it. It's the prelude to a new miniseries called FIRST WAVE written by Brian Azzarello, positing an alternate universe in which pulp adventurers, not superheroes, protect the world. In this issue, Doc Savage comes to Gotham City; his mission: to track down the masked vigilante known as--the Batman! A fuller synopsis and review will appear over the weekend, but rejoice! After a 15 year hiatus, Doc Savage is back in the comics! (And I resolve to be more on top of this sort of thing from now on. Really)
End of Year AdditionsDec 26, 09 Greetings from the waning days of 2009! I've added a couple of things to the site. First, Speculations in Bronze, a blog by Arthur H. Sippo who likes to delve into the scientific backgrounds of the Doc Savage sagas, examining gadgets, superweapons and settings for scientific accuracy as well as tackling continuity problems. That would be here: http://speculations-in-bronze.blogspot.com/ Second, new Doc Savage fan fiction by Mace Draper launching Doc into the modern era a la DC Comics. His site is here: www.angelfire.com/realm2/docsavage
Now I've got to hurry off: I received a copy of A History of the Doc Savage Adventures in Pulps, Paperbacks, Comics, Fanzines, Radio and Film, by Robert Michael Cotter as a Christmas present from my beloved wife and I've got to read it. Now.
Happy New Year to you all!

Details Added to Radio ShowsOct 30, 09 I've added a little something to the section for the 1934 Doc Savage radio show: one-line summaries of the plots of each episode. Now you can get an idea of the type of cases faced by the Man of Bronze when limited to fifteen minutes of action per week. Thanks to reader David Gunn for the suggestion!
Some Honest-to-Goodness Doc Savage News!Oct 30, 09 Ain't It Cool News is reporting that Shane Black (best known for Lethal Weapon) is writing the screenplay for a Doc Savage movie to be produced by Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman (who did the recent big-screen Star Trek film and TV's Alias and Fringe). Will this come to pass? Maybe, these guys have the clout. Will it be any good? That remains to be seen. More details at http://www.totalfilm.com/news/shane-black-writing-a-doc-savage-film?cid=OTC-RSS&attr=news.
Doc Savage is on the Air!Sep 30, 09 After an unavoidable delay, a section has been added detailing the three Doc Savage radio shows (1934, 1943, 1985)! Just pull down the Multimedia menu and click on Radio Shows to get the history of Doc in the spoken medium! More to come!
A Triple ObitJul 18, 09
Apologies for the long delay since the last update: the radio/book sections are taking longer than anticipated. In the meantime, I'm supplying write-ups to our sister site, the Captain America Library (see the link at right). Here are notices of the passings of three figures associated with Doc Savage:
First is Philip Jose Farmer: the great science fiction writer died on February 25 at the age of 91. The celebrated author of the Riverworld series was a major fan of the Man of Bronze and wrote the literary study Doc Savage: His Apocalyptic Life, the controversial pastiche A Feast Unknown and Escape from Loki, the first new Doc novel since the end of the pulps. He is also the creator of the sprawling Wold-Newton Universe, which ties all the great heroes of fiction together into one complex family tree.
Second is Edd Cartier, the pulp artist who passed away on December 25, 2008 at 94. Best known for his interior illustrations for The Shadow, he also drew the cover for the March 1948 issue of Doc Savage. Sadly it was one of those strange late covers that did not feature the Man of Bronze!
Finally, Frank Springer, the Marvel Comics artist died on April 2, at 79. Best known for his work on Dazzler and Nick Fury, Agent of SHIELD, around these parts he is celebrated as the inker of Marvel’s color Doc Savage comic book issue 7.
Let's Hear It for...Captain America!May 18, 09 The Doc Savage Library and the Incredible Hulk Library have a new friend site: the Captain America Library! Just launched on May 1, the site will contain all the profiles and comics issues featuring the Star-Spangled Avenger, following the pattern of its two predecessors. Julio and I will be adding material to Cap's library for a while, so check it out by clicking on the link at the upper right (look for the red, white and blue). PS The radio and book sections for Doc Savage will be along eventually. Honest.
What's Up LatelyApr 16, 09 Did you know there have been three Doc Savage radio series, in the 1930s, the 1940s and 1985? Well, coming soon, a section covering Doc Savage's exploits on the airwaves, to be added to the multimedia pages. Watch for it (an odd choice of words for radio, I know)! Plus, while waiting for the Books section to be added, I'm doing another proofreading of the site because no matter how many times I look at what I've written, I never seem to catch every dumb little typo I've made. And, as per Julio's suggestion, I'm putting names in bold type, which he assures me will result in higher visibility on the search engines.
Lester Dent RememberedMar 11, 09 It's a sad milestone for Doc Savage fans: Lester Dent, the primary writer for the original pulp series, passed away fifty years ago today. In his memory I've added a brief biography to the creators page, which is only fitting since it's his picture at the top of the column. As I said, without him, this site would not exist.
Novels Coming EventuallyJan 24, 09 Still no sign of land. Html wizard Julio Molina-Muscara, mastermind behind the Hulk Library (and artist for OMEGA CHASE), is still working on adding a section for the Doc Savage pulp novels, turning this site into a real Doc Savage Library. I'm reading them and preparing the entries, and they'll start appearing as soon as I get the high sign from Julio.
If you would like a site like this, dedicated to your favorite hero or comic title, just click on the Mirasoles Internet Solutions ad at the bottom and they can get you started.
Novels Still PendingDec 27, 08 Html wizard Julio Molina-Muscara, mastermind behind the Hulk Library (and artist for OMEGA CHASE), is still working on adding a section for the Doc Savage pulp novels, turning this site into a real Doc Savage Library. I'm reading them and preparing the entries, and they'll start appearing as soon as I get the high sign from Julio.
In the meantime, let me know what you think of the site so far...contact me at psilvestro1@verizon.net
Have No Fear, the Rest of the Team is Here!Dec 13, 08 Holy cow! I've added the character profiles for Renny and Long Tom, completing the dossiers on Doc Savage's two-fisted crew. Kick over to the Friends page here and enjoy.
In the Meantime...Dec 13, 08 Html wizard Julio, mastermind behind the Hulk Library, is still working on adding a section for the Doc Savage pulp novels, turning this site into a real Doc Savage Library. In the meantime, have a look at his other major project: as Julio Molina-Muscara, he is the artist for a comic book miniseries called OMEGA CHASE, written by Keith Dallas. It's a zombie western with science fiction elements, or a zombie sci-fi tale with western elements, or maybe a sci-fi western with zombie elements. Anyway, it's terrific, and issue 3 (of 4) has just been released. Check it out at Th3rd World Studios http://www.th3rdworld.com/ and add it to your collection.
And the Dark Horse Crosses the Finish LineNov 28, 08 Doc Savage's final comic book appearances to date were in the Dark Horse miniseries Doc Savage: the Curse of the Fire God, in which the Man of Bronze travels to South America to rescue his cousin Pat from the clutches of a bad-tempered native deity. Burning with curiosity? Well, I won't quench the flame. The hot details are available on issues 1, 2, 3, and 4, as of this Fry-day. Singe you're already steamed over all the "hot" puns, I'll take the heat off you before I'm toast.
What's next? Not to worry, the pulp novels are still on the way.
News from the End of the MillenniumNov 15, 08 ...Millennium Comics, that is. This week I've added the final issues from Millennium's run on Doc Savage, and an unusual set they are.
First up, there was Doc Savage, the Manual of Bronze, a book-length answer to the question, "Who is Doc Savage?" with character profiles and artwork. You can get the details here.
Then there was Pat Savage, Woman of Bronze, an unprecedented (at least in the comics) solo adventure for Doc's knockout of a cousin. The details on this one are here.
Finally, Millennium ended its run with the sadly curtailed Repel, their sole effort at adapting one of the original pulp novels. It held a lot of promise and the post-mortem is here.
Still to ComeNov 15, 08 This site started out dedicated to Doc Savage's comic book appearances, but it always seemed a bit misleading that something called "The Doc Savage Library" didn't have a section for the original pulp novels. Which, after all, is where Doc Savage started. So...coming soon, this site will feature the pulps in all their glorious, er, pulpness (pulpitude?). When I'm done adding the comics issues, I hope to begin adding entries for each of the 182 pulp novels, plus the additions, pastiches, reference works, and anything else that seems appropriate to a library devoted to Doc Savage. Watch for it!
Doc Savage--The PrequelOct 25, 08 The Prequel, you ask? Millennium Comics' third Doc Savage miniseries was billed as the "First Supersaga," a tale of Asian gangsters and Hindu gods that takes place immediately before the first recorded adventure THE MAN OF BRONZE. Featuring a rare (and offbeat) appearance by Doc's father, this adventure should not be missed! Read the details on The Devil's Thoughts 1, 2, and 3.
Johnny Has ArrivedOct 25, 08 Professor William Harper Littlejohn, affectionately known as "Johnny" now has a write-up on the Characters page. Read it and you'll be superamalgated, too.
The Best News for LastOct 25, 08 This site started out dedicated to Doc Savage's comic book appearances, but it always seemed a bit misleading that something called "The Doc Savage Library" didn't have a section for the original pulp novels.
DC = Definitely Completed!Oct 11, 08 The Asteroid Terror! An epic multi-generational story spanning nine decades and threatening Earth with destruction not once, but twice! This three part tale found in DC's Doc Savage 22, 23, and 24 was the climax of their series featuring the Man of Bronze, and now all the issues of their run are on display at The Doc Savage Library.
Character Profiles AddedOct 11, 08 And we now have character profiles for Doc Savage, Monk, Ham and Pat, under the Info column above. Pictures and more characters to come!
Look, Up in the Sky...!Sep 27, 08 No, not him--that other Clark guy--it's the Air Lord, the latest menace to confront the Man of Bronze, with his scheme to dominate the world's airlines! A nice 1930s three-parter from DC with amazing art by Wigham and Montano, who show themselves masters of drawing aircraft, and it's now here in DC's Doc Savage 19, 20, and 21. The Hindenburg Disaster is recreated spectacularly and compassionately--no mean feat.
The Shadow Knows!Aug 30, 08 The historic first teaming of those two giants of the hero pulps--Doc Savage and the Shadow--took place in the pages of DC comics in 1990. They did it in a crossover between their Doc and Shadow titles and you can read about it here: The Shadow Strikes 5, Doc Savage 17, Shadow 6 and Doc 18.
And while we're on the subject: the second historic first teaming of the two heroes was done by Dark Horse in their miniseries The Shadow and Doc Savage 1 & 2.
Will there be a third historic first teaming? Only the Shadow knows!
Who is Doc Savage?Aug 16, 08 For all you newcomers out there (and that includes you, Jim Morris), I've added the Doc history page, giving a capsule biography of the Man of Bronze plus a brief publication history. Profiles of the supporting characters to come!
More New IssuesAug 16, 08 I've added DC's issues 15 and 16, with the story of "The Sea Baron" and Millennium's Doom Dynasty miniseries, issues 1 and 2. Happy reading! What's next? The Shadow knows!
More linksAug 16, 08 Added a few more links, including one for The Doc Savage Complete Set Club.
Let the Sunlight in!Aug 2, 08
I've just added the write-ups for DC's Doc Savage issues 9-14, which includes the "Sunlight Rising!" story arc--the long-anticipated return of Doc's greatest archenemy John Sunlight. And by way of comparison, I've also put in Millennium's first Doc miniseries, with its take on the return of John Sunlight, in the four-part "Monarch of Armageddon!" Whose version do you prefer?
I've also added an number of things to the Links page. More to come!
New Comics AddedJul 16, 08
Many new comic synopses have been added to the site including the first eight issues of DC's Doc Savage series (1988-90, see them here), DC's 4-issue Miniseries by the Kubert brothers (1987-88, see them here), and
the complete run of Marvel's Doc Savage The Man of Bronze (1972-74, see them here), among others.
DOC SAVAGE #16Jul 22, 04
DOC SAVAGE issue #16--the penultimate issue--has been released. The Man of Bronze finally gets to the bottom of things and decides to take action, probably realizing he has only one more issue in which to wrap up the story. The Apis Bull, Mongols, Neanderthals, talk of Commie spies and dinosaurs, and more coy hints about Genghis Khan as though we can't figure out what a scientist who is experimenting with restoring the dead is planning to do in a story called "Raise the Khan." Check it out here>. Now pardon me, I've got to go to the movies to see CAPTAIN AMERICA (subject of my other Superhero e-Library).
